'HOO'S TA GAAN ON'

HAROLD FORSYTH¨s CUMBERLAND TALES The Lakeland Dialect Society NEW BOOK Harold Forsyth (1907-2001) was born in the city of Carlisle and spent all his life in the vicinity. Formerly a well-known and popular entertainer, he conducted the Carlisle Male Voice Choir for many years, and was a lifelong member of the (now) United Reformed Church. This book is a tribute to his devoted work for the Lakeland Dialect Society, which in recent years he has served as its highly respected President. Harold¨s rich dialect reflects not only the accent but also the rhythm, clever turn of phrase and idiom of a North Cumberland speech which is still flourishing into the 21st century. His lively and untarnished humour will delight the reader. ISBN 0 902401 12 2 This handy sized book (A5) contains well over fifty stories, some of which have never appeared in print, others have had only a limited circulation through the Society¨s Journal. Price £6.50 Sterling including UK inland postage - ADD EXTRA FOR OVERSEAS !!
